I am very honoured to announce that Humania Assurance has been named one of Canada’s Top Small and Medium Employers for 2021, for the third year in a row, according to the ranking published by Mediacorp Canada this morning in The Globe and Mail newspaper.

Despite the current context, our presence in this ranking recognizes our efforts to be an employer of choice thanks to a stimulating work environment and a commitment to always innovate, no matter the situation. This award recognizes our mission-driven culture, our values, and our determination to create an environment where all our people can use their talent, be happy and grow.

The fact that Humania is being recognized once again this year, at a time when the pandemic has completely disrupted the workplace and the working methods of all our employees, makes this award even more special. Faced with COVID-19, they remained fully engaged and were provided with the support and flexibility they needed to ride this crisis out. Humania was able to quickly change the way its work was organized to ensure the safety of our employees, their families, and their community.

All our people benefited from great flexibility that allowed them to work on different schedules while keeping their focus on our customers and on achieving our mission: making insurance accessible. We provided them with a financial allowance to help them optimize their home workspace. Our Action Mieux-Être (Wellness Action) committee also offered them a series of tools: ergonomic videoclips, webinars, video conferences, yoga classes and many other references and activities to promote healthy management of their overall wellness. These various tools and accommodations are supported by existing benefits that include access to flexible work hours and virtual healthcare, as well as personal and professional development opportunities.

The Canada’s Top 100 Employers initiative, of which the Top Small and Medium Employers ranking is part, is a national competition to determine which employers are the best in their industry for providing an exceptional work environment for their employees. Our people are at the heart of our success, and it is thanks to them that we are able, year after year, to continue to modernize life and health insurance in Canada to make it even more accessible. Congratulations to them! We owe our selection as one of Canada’s Top Small and Medium Employers for 2021 to them.

About the Canada’s Top 100 Employers initiative

The Canada’s Top 100 Employers initiative, of which the Top Small and Medium Employers ranking is part, evaluates organizations on eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are compared to other  organizations in their industry to determine which ones offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The complete list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2021 was featured in a special insert in the April 6, 2021, edition of The Globe and Mail and can be found on the competition website at www.canadastop100.com.
